The Finance department has significant and diversified areas of responsibilities including planning organizing, and maintaining the payables, receivables, and payroll of the Players Association, MLB Players Trust (“Players Trust”) , and MLB Players, Inc. Examples of some major responsibilities include quarterly and annual tax reporting, the annual labor report, tax returns, financial reports/statements, and implementation and evaluation of internal controls. The department also produces Player distributions and annual 1099s as well as monitors financial compliance with independent consultant contracts.
